On Saturday, October 11, 2025, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in San Mateo hosted the 5th annual Archdiocese Faith & Blue Mass, drawing faith‑based leaders, law enforcement and civic dignitaries from across San Mateo county.
The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor John Talesfore, pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Mateo. Father Paul Arnoult, pastor of St. Bartholomew, concelebrated the Mass.
In his homily, Monsignor Talesfore thanked the first responders. “You step into danger, you persevere through fatigue, and you put others before yourselves,” said Talesfore. “In your faithfulness to duty, you mirror the faithfulness of the God that we gather here to worship and thank.”
Monsignor Talesfore emphasized the community’s gratitude for the many sacrifices made by first responders. “We know too often your sacrifices go unnoticed,” said Talesfore. “And too often gratitude is left unspoken. Today in this liturgy we do notice and we give thanks. We ask God to bless you and your families and keep you safe.”
After the prayers of the faithful, Monsignor Talesfore blessed the badges of the law enforcement officers and firefighters.
