POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cathedral Business Manager serves as the key resource in support of the pastor, fulfilling administrative needs in managing finances, security, operations, and personnel. Works independently while advising the Pastor and collaborating with the Chancery offices. Responsible for developing and managing to the annual operating and capital budgets.
ANNUAL SALARY: $102,000
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Managing operations of administrative offices, 24x7 Security, Gift Shop and a team of 5 direct reports and approximately 10 total staff. Administer cash flow management systems and be responsible for the recording and depositing of all Cathedral Revenues.
2. Purchasing, inventory and payables.
3. Billing and receivables.
4. Monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
5. Prepares and presents financial and operational performance reports for Pastor, Finance Council, and ADSF Finance Department.
6. Negotiates contracts with suppliers.
7. Review financial impact and forecasting of planned maintenance of premises and larger infrastructure needs to be included in the operating budget.
8. Collaborate and update three-five-year capital improvement and maintenance plans for the Cathedral. These should be prepared in collaboration with the Archdiocesan Real Property Support Corporation (RPSC), Pastor and Moderator of the Curia.
9. Maintenance of Cathedral membership, sacramental records, and individual contribution records of parishioners and donors.
10. Quarterly sales tax reporting, annual 1099 reporting, and year-end parishioner donation reporting.
11. Administers archdiocesan salary, hiring and benefits policies as directed by the pastor in coordination with the Archdiocesan Human Resources Department.
12. Manage the reporting requirements and overall compliance related to the broader topic of “Workplace Safety.” This includes (a) State of California SB 553 WVPP guidelines, OSHA / Cal-OSHA reporting, and Workers Compensation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
13. To perform this job successfully: the individual must be able to manage each essential duty; have a proven track record of accountability; have a proven track record of collaborating with all levels of colleagues within the local and the larger organization, and team building.
14. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and two to five years related experience.
15. Background in operations management is helpful.
16. Must be a Catholic who upholds and understands the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
17. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals of government regulations.
18. At least three years of management experience and strong knowledge of finance and budgeting and should have knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
