What began as a historic first in 2025 is now a living tradition.
Last year, the walls of San Quentin’s Catholic Chapel filled with prayer, music, and the voices of people who refuse to be defined by their worst moment. The inaugural Fiesta de El Salvador del Mundo brought together incarcerated residents, Warden Chance Andes, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, community advocates, and families — all gathered in faith to celebrate Salvadoran and Central American heritage, honor El Divino Salvador del Mundo, and speak honestly about rehabilitation, justice, and mercy.
This year, we return. And we need your help to make it happen.

Lo que comenzó como un momento histórico en 2025, hoy es una tradición viva.
El año pasado, las paredes de la capilla de San Quentin se llenaron de oración, música y el testimonio de personas que se niegan a ser definidas por su peor momento. La primera Fiesta del Divino Salvador del Mundo reunió a residentes, al Director Chance Andes, a la Fiscal del Distrito Brooke Jenkins, a líderes comunitarios y a familias — todos unidos en la fe para celebrar la herencia salvadoreña y centroamericana, y para hablar con honestidad sobre rehabilitación, justicia y misericordia.

ABOUT THE FEAST

The Feast of the Divine Savior of the World is the most sacred religious celebration in El Salvador, observed every year on August 6th. It honors Jesus Christ — the Savior — patron and namesake of the country. Dating to 1526, shortly after the founding of San Salvador, this feast is deeply rooted in both civic tradition and Catholic faith. Its most powerful moment is the Bajada procession, in which a statue of Christ is carried through the streets, representing His Transfiguration — a moment of divine radiance and the unbreakable promise of hope.
At San Quentin, this feast takes on a profound new meaning. For the many Salvadoran and Central American men inside, it is a moment to celebrate who they are, where they come from, and who — by God’s grace — they are becoming.

La Fiesta del Divino Salvador del Mundo es la celebración religiosa más importante de El Salvador, celebrada cada año el 6 de agosto. Honra a Jesucristo — El Salvador — patrón y homónimo del país. Esta celebración data de 1526, poco después de la fundación de San Salvador, y está arraigada en la tradición cívica y la fe católica. Su momento más poderoso es la procesión de la Bajada, en la que una estatua de Cristo es llevada por las calles, representando Su Transfiguración — un momento de resplandor divino y de esperanza inquebrantable.
