Holy Mass in Honor of The Feast of Divine Savior of the World at the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center

The Holy Mass in honor of the feast of Divine Savior of the World at the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center the Mass will be officiated by Father Armando Gutierrez of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

After the Mass, there will be traditional Salvadoran food, guest speakers, and folkloric dances from Central and South America.

About the Feast of the Divine Savior of the World

The Feast of the Divine Savior of the World is the most important religious celebration in El Salvador, held annually on August 6th. It honors Jesus Christ, the patron and namesake of the country — El Salvador means “The Savior.” This celebration dates to 1526, shortly after the founding of San Salvador, and is deeply rooted in both civic and spiritual traditions. One of the most significant moments is the symbolic “Bajada” procession, in which a statue of Christ is carried through the streets, representing His Transfiguration — a moment of divine radiance and hope. This feast is a powerful expression of national identity, faith, and the enduring belief in transformation and redemption.

La Santa Misa se ofrece en memoria de las vidas perdidas a causa de la violencia de pandillas en El Salvador y en apoyo a quienes buscan redención dentro de las prisiones. Este es un evento de oración, sanación, rehabilitación, unidad, fundamentado en la fe y la creencia en las segundas oportunidades.
