Father Roy Remo installed as pastor of St. Charles and St. Matthias parishes
The parish communities of St. Charles and St. Matthias, gathered joyfully on Monday, November 4, for the installation Mass of their new pastor Father Roy Remo. The celebration, held at St. Charles in San Carlos, marked the beginning of a new chapter for both parishes, as they came together to formally welcome Father Remo to his new role.
What made this celebration particularly special was the presence of Father Remo’s family, who traveled to join in the momentous occasion. Concelebrating the Mass were the Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD DD, Archbishop Emeritus of Caceres, the Most Rev. Luisito A. Occiano, DD, Bishop of Virac and 40 priests from the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Archbishop Tirona served as Father Remo’s former Archbishop in the Diocese of Caceres in the Philippines, and Bishop Occiano was Father Remo’s seminary classmate since high school.
During the ceremony, Father Remo was presented to the parish counsel and parish staff, while also leading the faithful in the Creed. He also made an oath of fidelity to the teachings of the Church and to the Archbishop.
“I am grateful to Father Roy for his presence and work in our Archdiocese,” said Archbishop Cordileone in his homily. “He has been a valued collaborator with me during his years here. I am very grateful to him for taking on this assignment to continue and build upon the good work here.”
After the Mass, the celebration continued with a welcoming reception in the parish hall, where community members from both parishes had the opportunity to greet Father Remo.
