Our Mission

The Office of Evangelization of the Archdiocese of San Francisco exists to inspire and equip every member of the Church to live as a missionary disciple. Rooted in prayer, Scripture, and the Sacraments, our mission is to foster a culture of encounter, invitation, and conversion across our parishes and communities.

Through pastoral support, formation, and collaboration, we help individuals and parishes share the joy of the Gospel and bring others into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

What We Do

The Office of Evangelization & Catechesis, guided by the Holy Spirit and in communion with Our Archbishop, accompanies and empowers parishes, school leaders, and ministries to deepen and extend the evangelizing and catechetical mission of our diverse Archdiocese. We strive to draw the faithful into lasting communion with Jesus Christ and one another

🔹 Evangelization Formation

We provide workshops, retreats, and leadership training to form parish staff, volunteers, and lay faithful in the heart of missionary discipleship.

🔹 Parish Support & Strategy

We work one-on-one with pastors and parish teams to assess evangelization efforts, develop pastoral plans, and create more welcoming, vibrant communities of faith.

🔹 Missionary Outreach

We encourage and support outreach efforts in neighborhoods, schools, families, and digital spaces, empowering Catholics to confidently share their faith.

🔹 Multicultural Evangelization

Reflecting the diversity of the Bay Area, we offer support for evangelization initiatives in multiple languages and cultural contexts, ensuring every voice is heard and every heart is reached.

  • Support services – volunteer placement, bilingual outreach, and disability inclusion.

Areas of Focus

  • Formation of Parish Catechetical Leaders – training those who lead faith formation ministries.
