Sister Anncarla Costello, SND, was installed as the new Congregational Leader of the Sisters of the Presentation in a special liturgy celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone on June 28, 2026.
Sister Anncarla Costello takes office as the Pontifical Commissary for the Sisters of the Presentation. The Installation Rite during the liturgy included the reading of the mandate from the Vatican approving this change in governance and the new leadership role of Commissary.
In his remarks, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone thanked the Sisters of the Presentation for their 172 years of faithful witness in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. He noted that their faithful witness will continue in the years ahead as the Sisters continue to live out their mission and charism.
Over one hundred sisters, associates, guests, and staff participated in the liturgy held in the former motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of the Presentation. The liturgy was followed by a luncheon.
