Schedule for the Altars of Repose in the Archdiocese of San Francisco

As the Mass of the Lord’s Supper ends on Holy Thursday, the Blessed Sacrament is processed out of the sanctuary and placed atop the altar of repose, where it will remain “entombed,” as it were, in darkness until the first light of Easter Sunday breaks. Below are the times for some of the Altars of the Repose in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Read more. 

 

Marin County

Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church (Novato)

Mass of the Lor’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. with the Altar of Repose beginning immediately after Mass until midnight in the hall.

St. Anselm Catholic Church (Ross)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take plae at 7:00 p.m. with the Altar of Repose immediately following from 8:00 p.m. – midnight.

St. Hilary Catholic Church (Tiburon)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper  will take place at 7:00pm. From 8:15pm – 10pm – “Night Watch” Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose will take place in Tarantino Hall

St. Patrick Catholic Church (Larkspur)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 9:00 p.m.

St. Raphael Catholic Church (San Raphael)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. with the Altar of Repose following gin the Mission from 8:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

St. Sebastain Catholic Church (Greenbrae)

Mass of the Lords’s Supper at 7:00 pm with the Altar of Repose immediately following in Parish Hall until 9:00 pm.

San Mateo County

Church of the Nativity (Menlo Park)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 6:00 p.m. followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the O’Hare Center until midnight.

Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church (South San Francisco)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. with the Altar of Repose following immediately after in St. Lorenzo parish hall.

Our Lady of Angels (Burlingame)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. with adoration following until midnight.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Daly City)

OLPH will have an Altar of Repose from 9:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. in the church.

Our Lady of Mercy (Daly City)

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:30 p.m.  with the Altar of Repose beginning immediately after  and lasting until midnight.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (East Palo Alto)

Bi-lingual Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 6:00 p.m. with adoration at the Altar of Repose beginning at 8:30 p.m. and lasting until midnight.

St. Catherine of Siena parish (Burlingame)

Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. The Altar of Repose and adoration will take place immediately following Mass and will conclude with Night Prayer at 10:30 p.m.

St. Gregory Catholic Church (San Mateo)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:00 p.m. with the Altar of Repose and Adoration taking place from 8:00 p.m.  – 11:00 p.m. in the gym.

St. Matthew Catholic Church (San Mateo)

There will be a 7:00 p.m. bi-lingual Mass of the Lord’s Supper with Adoration until Midnight.

St. Pius Catholic Church (Redwood City)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins at 7:00 p.m. Immediately following,  Altar of Repose will be open until 10pm, in the St. Pius Adoration Chapel.

St. Raymond Catholic Church (Menlo Park)

Following Holy Thursday Mass at 7:00 p.m., St. Raymond’s Altar of Repose will be in the Gym from 8 pm to 11 pm. 

St. Timothy Catholic Church (San Mateo)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper (Misa Vespertina de la Cena del Señor) will take place at 7:00 pm with adoration following until 11:00 pm.

St. Veronica Catholic Church (South San Francisco)

On Holy Thursday, St. Veronica will have the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 6:30 pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until midnight.

San Francisco City and County

Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption (SF)

Archbishop Cordileone will celebrate the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 p.m. followed by a procession to the Altar of Repose in the St. Francis Room of the Events Center immediately following. Adoration continue until 10:00 p.m.

Church of the Visitation (SF)

The Holy Thursday Mass at Church of the Visitacion begins at 8:00 p.m. The Altar of Repose will begin around 9:30pm and will continue until midnight. The Altar of Repose will be located inside the church.

Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church (SF)

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins at 7:00 p.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in the Flanagan Center (lower church hall) after Mass until 10:00 p.m.

Old St. Mary’s Church (SF)

Holy Thursday Mass is at 6:00 p.m., Altar of Repose will be in the main church at the side chapel immediately following. It will conclude with Night Prayer around 8:00 p.m.

St. Dominic’s Catholic Church (SF)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7:30 pm followed by adoration. At 11:20 pm, they will read the Last Supper Discourse.  The church closes shortly after

St. Ignatius Catholic Church (SF)

St. Ignatius Parish will host an Altar of Repose inside the church from 6:30pm – 10:00 p.m.

St. Stephen Catholic Church (SF)

Mass of the Last Supper begins at 7:30 p.m. with the altar of Repose beginning immediately after. Adoration will continue until 10:00 p.m.

St. Patrick Catholic Church (SF)

Mass of the Last Supper will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by procession to the altar of Repose & Adoration . Adoration will begin approximately at 6:30 p.m. and will last until 10:00 p.m.

Sts. Peter and Paul (SF)

Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins at 7:30 a.m with the Altar of Repose beginning after Mass. The church will be open for adoration until10:00 p.m.

Star of the Sea Catholic Church (SF)

Join Star of the Sea on Holy Thursday for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper (English Novus Ordo), commemorating the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood. There will be an Altar of Repose immediately following Mass in chapel.
