Youth Ministry

The Archdiocese of San Francisco supports youth ministry programs that foster the catechesis, moral, and spiritual formation of young people in Middle School through High School.

Our Goals

Guided by the USCCB’s document, Renewing the Vision (1997), our ministry has three goals:

To empower young people (ages 13-17) to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;

To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community;

To foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

To accomplish these goals, we offer training, community, workshops, resources, retreats, and collaboration opportunities for Youth Ministry Leaders within the Archdiocese, as well as training, retreats, catechetical events, leadership opportunities for youth themselves.

Genuine love is demanding. But its beauty lies precisely in the demands it makes. Only those able to make demands on themselves in the name of love can then demand love from others.

30 Day Program

4:00pm (06/15) – 11:00am (07/19)
Cost: 3950
The 30-Day silent retreat at the Jesuit Retreat Center offers the experience of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The Exercises can be helpful for someone making a decision – whether it is a vocational choice, a decision regarding one’s current way of life, or pertaining to a period of transition. It is also an excellent experience for anyone in a time of renewal or sabbatical.

The retreat experience begins with two days of preparation and concludes with a day of reflection. During the retreat itself, the retreatant prays four or five times a day, sees a spiritual director once a day, and participates in daily Eucharist.

Normally, retreatants will have made at least one silent, directed retreat (eight days or 19th annotation) before embarking on the 30-Day; it is also expected that they will have already engaged in ongoing spiritual direction.

The application process involves a few steps. Please complete the application, available at www.jrclosaltos.org. It is a Word document which you may save to your computer and complete at your convenience. When it is complete, please email it as an attachment to [email protected].
