"We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern." - Pope Francis, Sept. 16, 2013

Who we are: The Office of Human Life & Dignity collaborates with parishes of the Archdiocese, archdiocesan ministries, the California Catholic Conference, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Social Justice organizations to nurture human dignity by respecting all human life, from conception to natural death, and striving to obtain justice for all.

What we do: Through public information and education, pastoral care, public policy advocacy and prayer and worship we address the variety of social justice topics affecting our communities in an effort to raise the level of action and response. Each issue is addressed and supported through the lens of the main principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

Job Description: Energetic, hardworking team player will work with all ministries of the Office of Human Life & Dignity, in areas including Laudato Si’, immigration, respect life, restorative justice, interfaith initiatives, and housing. Opportunities will include event planning and support, administrative support for various projects including data collection and organization, as well as opportunities for direct project management and public policy advocacy. Writing, social media, video, graphic design, and web production opportunities. Some nights and weekends.

Salary: $69,000 – $71,000 annually.

Required: Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated commitment/understanding of Catholic social teaching.
