Youth Ministry

The Archdiocese of San Francisco supports youth ministry programs that foster the catechesis, moral, and spiritual formation of young people in Middle School through High School.

Our Goals

Guided by the USCCB’s document, Renewing the Vision (1997), our ministry has three goals:

To empower young people (ages 13-17) to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;

To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community;

To foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

To accomplish these goals, we offer training, community, workshops, resources, retreats, and collaboration opportunities for Youth Ministry Leaders within the Archdiocese, as well as training, retreats, catechetical events, leadership opportunities for youth themselves.

Genuine love is demanding. But its beauty lies precisely in the demands it makes. Only those able to make demands on themselves in the name of love can then demand love from others.

Zoom presentation of TeenSTAR

2:00pm
TeenSTAR is a program to teach youth or young adults about sexuality, in a way that respects human dignity and the teachings of the Church.

On June 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm we will offer a ZOOM PRESENTATION ON TeenSTAR with Molly Daley, J.D., previously in the San Francisco archdiocese and a popular visiting speaker at St. Patrick’s Seminary.

She will present on what TeenSTAR is and why it is both important and very useful for our youth.

Molly  has worked with Deacon Santiago Molina, the Executive Director of TeenSTAR, and taught TeenSTAR in Catholic schools on the East Coast. Molly is articulate, personable, and seasoned.

TeenSTAR can be an antidote for parents concerned about the state of California and its obsession with sexualizing children, including the 2016 California Healthy Youth Act.

The curriculum can be taught by teachers in a school setting, but also by trained parents, catechists, etc.  We will offer a live teacher training on Aug 5/6 in the Archdiocese.

Mercy Night at St. Dominic’s

7:30pm – 9:00pm
Are you seeking a moment of peace or have a desire to encounter God’s mercy? Please join us for an evening of personal prayer, contemplative music, and quiet reflection in God’s presence. Mercy Night is a special invitation to experience the comfort and consolation of the Divine through adoration, the sacrament of reconciliation, and prayer.

All are welcome! Mercy Night is a wonderful opportunity to invite someone you’ve always wanted to introduce to the Catholic Faith or perhaps friends and family who haven’t been to church in some time.

The Vatican has designated St. Dominic’s Catholic Church as a Vatican recognized Pilgrim site for Plenary Indulgence in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the parish.  The St. Dominic’s Jubilee Plenary Indulgence officially begins on June 24th and is available for those who attend Mercy Night.
